- The valuations I list are my personal opinion only. They are based on similar examples listed or recently sold, as well as my estimate of the designs rarity and popularity. Chalkware is, generally speaking, inexpensive. Most of the examples I show are no longer in high demand and -- while old -- they were mass produced and remain easy to find. I focus on this kind of inexpensive ware.
- My valuations reflects the price you might expect to pay on Ebay or Etsy. Antique stores will often list items at 5-10 times this price. Thrift stores might sell the same item for only a few dollars.
- Before selling a piece of chalkware, be sure to have it properly valued. If it is a common design this can be done easily. If it is more unique you should visit an appraiser either in person or by submitting clear photograph including any marks or labels. If your piece was made as a work of fine art or artisan decor it may be very valuable.
