"La Vierge du Sourire"

Chalkware is often used for religious statues and souvenirs. "La vierge du sourire" is French for: The Virgin of the Smile or Our Lady of the Smile/Smiles . This type of icon always shows the Virgin Mary on a globe, crushing a snake underfoot. This version probably dates from the 1950s or 1960s. Maker unknown.
